Hey,
I'm Melissa.
My journey as a photographer began long before I held my first camera. As a child, I was captivated by the world around me. I saw beauty in the simplest of things – the way sunlight danced through leaves, the laughter of children playing in the park, the quiet elegance of an old building at dusk. It was as if I viewed the world through a lens, framing each moment in my mind.
Capturing a moment in time...
It wasn't until my teenage years that I discovered photography as a means to capture and share the beauty I saw. My first camera was a modest point-and-shoot, but it opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me. I spent hours experimenting with composition, lighting, and subject matter, eager to learn and improve my skills.
After high school, I made the decision to pursue photography professionally. I enrolled at The University of Tennessee at Martin and graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts. There I worked hand in hand with the marketing department and spent hours in the dark room and my love for black and white photography began. I studied the fundamentals of photography and honed my craft. It was a challenging but rewarding experience, and it solidified my passion for capturing moments in time.
Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of capturing countless moments – moments of joy, of sorrow, of love, of triumph. Each photograph tells a story, a glimpse into the lives of the people and places I've encountered along the way. .
Photography has the power to move people – to evoke emotions, spark conversations all while capturing a moment in time. It's a responsibility that I don't take lightly, and it drives me to continue pushing myself as an artist and storyteller.
